The harvest festival that is celebrated across the country in different forms, it is an interesting tradition where we pay our respects and pray to nature for all its support in providing a bountiful harvest.
Remembering my mother using bronze ware (Vengala Panai) every year for Pongal and Tamil New year to make the sweet dish “Sakkari Pongal” and Payasam, we at Zishta decided to explore the traditional artisans who make these cookware. Our journey took us across Kerala and Tamil Nadu and met artisans who had been making “Vengala Panai”for generations. Excited with this new connect, we went ahead and launched this product few weeks before Pongal. This journey brought us exciting memories of our childhood days and the ways we celebrated our festivals. Unique dishes, unique vessels – so much we had taken for granted and now we need to strive really hard to recreate those memories!
