Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does the raised edge help with liquid or semi-liquid batters?
Yes. The raised edge helps contain batter while spreading and cooking, reducing spills when making items like neer dosa or pancakes.
2. Is this pan suitable for shallow frying?
The raised sides allow shallow frying with better control compared to flat pans, especially for foods that release moisture.
3. How does the thickness of the pan affect cooking?
The thick cast iron base stores heat well, which helps maintain steady temperatures even when food is added.
4. Will food stick if the pan is new?
Initial use may need a little extra oil. As the pan is used regularly, the natural seasoning improves and sticking reduces.
5. How should the pan be stored to avoid rust?
Ensure it is completely dry and lightly oiled before storage, preferably in a dry, ventilated space. For more maintenance tips read our guide to iron and cast iron cookware.
