My palawi and masala dabba arrived well packaged and in excellent condition. Zishta was even thoughtful enough to recognize that the smaller containers can fit inside the extra large palawi, allowing for a smaller box the ship. The containers appear to seal well, so they should preserve my food well.

I’ve been using the Soapstone Cookware Kalchatti with lid for a while now, and it has been a very satisfying addition to the kitchen. The first thing you notice is how solid and well-crafted it feels—this is not your everyday lightweight utensil, it’s built the old-fashioned way, sturdy and dependable.
Cooking in it is where it really shines. The heat distribution is excellent, and once it warms up, it holds heat beautifully. Dishes like sambar, rasam, and slow-cooked curries taste noticeably better—there’s a depth of flavor that reminds you of how food used to be made in traditional kitchens. It also keeps food warm for a long time, which is quite convenient.
The lid fits well, and the overall finish is neat. Of course, like any kalchatti, it requires a bit of care—gradual heating, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and proper seasoning initially. But once you get used to it, it’s very easy to handle.
Overall, a great purchase for anyone who values traditional cooking methods and authentic taste. It’s one of those things that doesn’t just cook food—it elevates it.

Received Kalchetti safely. It’s a very good product. This my maiden experience to use stoneware for cooking . It retains heat for a long time. I am using Kalchetti for making curd also . Curd sets in nicely in this vessel. So very happy to use the product. Overall this is a nice product for varied cooking needs.

I bought the Sengottai dosai kallu a couple of years ago. It helps me make the BEST and crispiest dosais ever! I have begun making dosais more frequently since I purchased this for the sheer joy of it. My mother, who used it when starting with me, is now excited to own one as well.
