Wash them and allow water to drain off. little bit of moisture helps in preserving the wood. Once in a while apply cooking oil along the edges to prevent it from cracking

Surprisingly the finish and shine is got by applying mustard oil with muslin cloth for hours. No chemicals have been used to get that finish.
