The packaging is good. I've used it only once and it worked well. But, for cast iron, the real test would be how it holds in the long run. My mother has cast iron kadai that is as old as me. Onething I noticed is that you can see white spots (metal) on the kadai. The branded ones from meyer etc...are uniformly black. Not seen any white metal underneeth.

The greyish/white metal is the actual colour of iron and the industrially manufactured cast iron would have smooth finishing of the carbon deposit post casting. Traditionally made ones are in sand cast and you will notice the metal in some parts. This will not hinder the functionality of the product in anyway. Hope this helps.
